I have taught physics, chemistry, and mathematics at the high school level, and I have a wide range of teaching experiences in those fields. I have taught AP, honors, and standard classes. In me there’s a wonderful fulfillment when helping someone with the gift of education. In fact the education I experienced changed my life significantly for the better. Naturally I want to give back. While earning a Bachelor in Accounting and a Masters of Accounting, I learned basic educational necessities. These skills include math, science, English, and grammatical structure. While attending Florida A&M University I tutored many students in the fundamentals of accounting and math. After graduating with an undergraduate degree I became a substitute teacher for Broward County Public Schools. While substituting I was able to experience a variety of schools in Broward. At a local elementary school I was able to teach a third grade class for three months.

I truly enjoy teaching and watching a student’s growth both academically and personally with my assistance. I can not say that I have only one teaching style. The art of teaching is finding out what is the best way for my students to learn. Each and every student has a different way of learning; may it be lecture, demonstration, or question and answer. The great thing about teaching is that there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way of expressing the material. Many times you have to use multiple methods of teaching to help the students gain a more thorough understanding. Having some professional experience in the Chemistry field is a great tool for both gaining the student’s attention and relating what is done in the classroom to real life scenarios. I gain great satisfaction from helping students obtain the goals they have set.

I graduated from King's College in Pennsylvania in May of 2002 with my BS in Chemistry. I decided to return to school for another semester to do my student teaching and become certified in secondary education. I spent twelve weeks teaching 10th through 12th grade students in Chemistry and eight weeks teaching Advanced Chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and look forward to one day having my own classroom and becoming a teacher and mentor to younger children. After graduating, I decided that I needed to gain some real life experience that I could apply and have students relate to before entering the classroom. So for the past 5 years I have worked in a variety of laboratory settings. Currently I am working as an Analytical Chemist for a Cosmetic / Pharmaceutical company on Long Island. My 5 years as a United States Marine established important core values such as tact, integrity, discipline, and commitment. I bring these values with me into the classroom. I believe that the success of a student depends more on their level of commitment than on inherent talent. However, learning must be an enjoyable experience in order for a strong commitment to be made. I am passionate about mathematics and the sciences, and this passion shows in my teaching style. I have been a straight-A student my entire life and I recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a 4.0 GPA. I earned my B.S. in Physics (Astronomy emphasis) with a minor in Applied Mathematics. Though my expertise lies in mathematics and the sciences, I am also knowledgeable in topics ranging from history to English grammar and composition. Much of my academic success is due to my ability to prepare for exams. I scored a 32 on the ACT, as well as perfect scores of 800 on the SAT2 Writing and GRE Mathematics exams. I gained teaching-related experience during my year as an Instructional Assistant, in which I assisted students with math, science, English, and GED exam preparation. At the college level, I spent 2.5 years tutoring in physics, math, and astronomy, as well as a semester in a college-level general physics class working as a teaching assistant.

I have always worked with children, first as a babysitter at the age of 12, and then through the schools. I've learned that all students are unique and they respond to different teaching methods differently. I can usually tell by their expression if they "get it" or not. And if they are having difficulty, I immediately change my instructional approach. I have been known to make up learning strategies on the spur of the moment to suit a student and the material. I just enjoy being around children and want children to want to learn. It is something they will need to do the rest of their lives and I want them to have the skills they need to learn in the future.
