We use an easy step-by-step process to help parents and students understand the program requirements and move smoothly through the required steps. SES is a governmental program which has specific guidelines and deadlines which we must follow.
We conduct a pre-test to assess the student’s specific weaknesses in the subject area chosen by the parent. A parent may request Language Arts or Mathematics at any grade level, or Science in grade levels 5th-8th.
We write a Student Learning Plan (SLP) based on the results of the diagnostic assessment. We discuss with the parent the student’s weakness and set goals for the student to achieve.
We must submit the Student Learning Plan to the school district for approval. Parents must also approve the SLP by signing a copy that will be kept in the student records and forwarded to the school district office.
Once the school district has approved the SLP, we may begin tutoring services with the student. Typical services are in-home, 2 or 3 times a week, for 1-hour each session. Days and times are chosen by the parent in conjunction with the tutor. Meeting on a regular schedule is imperative for the student to receive the most benefits and largest learning gains.
At the completion of each program, we conduct a post-test to determine the amount of progress the student has made and if he/she achieved the Student Learning Plan goals. This information is then provided to the parent and the school district for reporting purposes.
